Apps & Software

disctrac

QR stickers and an iOS and Android app that let whoever finds a disc notify its owner without either side sharing contact details.

What to know

Each sticker carries its own code, registered against a disc in the app along with its mold, plastic, colour and photos. A finder scans it, lands on a Found a Disc screen showing that disc, and taps Notify Owner; the owner gets a notification and can arrange the return by in-app message. Someone without the app is taken to the disctrac website instead, where whatever contact details the owner chose to publish are shown. A Release Disc action hands a disc over so its next owner can claim it into their own inventory.

More detail

Stickers are sold on the site and handed out as starter packs at tournaments, minis and expos, with retail distribution described as in progress. The app is free with a fifteen-disc inventory; a Disctrac Pro tier at $3.99 a month, in testing when this was checked, lifts that limit after a thirty-day trial.
