Ace Trace

A phone video editor that draws a traced flight line over golf and disc golf shots for sharing, with an optional distance label.

What to know

Ace Trace is a shot tracer for social video rather than a form tool, and its site and store listing lead with golf. A coloured line is laid along the flight, either automatically or by hand in Free Curve mode, where 4 to 10 points are marked across the clip and joined into a curve. The FAQ says automatic tracking of discs is still a work in progress and works only on iOS. Nothing is measured: the distance counter that runs along the line shows a figure the user types in, and no speed readout is offered.

More detail

Footage can be handheld, since the traced line holds its place as the camera moves. The app runs on iPhone, iPad and Android. Tracing and previewing are free, but saving the finished video needs a subscription (weekly $6.99 or yearly $69.99 on the App Store when this was checked), with one free export every 35 days.
